Hotel Brand Name and Logo Design Competition

INTRODUCTION

A new hotel in Tai Kok Tsui will start their business in 2019. In celebration of its commencement, we sincerely invite you to provide a creative design for the hotel’s logo and brand name. With no specific theme and colour, we are looking for your innovative and creative idea! 

 

Don't miss the chance to show your creativity and win a cash prize of HK$ 10,000. The competition is open to youths aged from 18 to 24 in Hong Kong.

 

Submission Deadline: 1 March 2018 (23:59)

Result Announcement:
The shortlisted finalists will be informed by email individually in late March 2018 and and required to attend the award presentation and ceremony. The result of awards will be announced in late April 2018 after the award ceremony.

HOW TO JOIN

3 things you need to submit per entry 

1. A proposed hotel's name in Chinese and English

2. A logo - colour and black/white versions 

​

3. Text description of the logo design concept and hotel's name

Please read the information listed below for the formats, requirements and submission method

Submission Requirements 

  • The competition is now open to ALL YOUTHS aged from 18 to 24 in Hong Kong.**

  • All design has no limitation on specific themes or colours.

  • Selection criteria:

    • Originality

    • Creativity

    • Aesthetic Quality

    • Reproducibility

    • Design Relevance

  • Each entry must include a brief description (no more than 300 words, either in Chinese or English), illustrating the design concept.

  • Participants can form a group with teammates to submit the entries. 

  • Each participant can submit 2 entries only.

**The selected finalists are required to attend the award presentation and ceremony, the details will be announced after the screening and selection process. 

**The host has the final decision on the eligibility of the participant.

Submission Formats 

Each participant must submit the two formats of file per entry 

 

A PDF file

  • All entries must be presented in A4 (210mm x 297mm) document size. 

  • In vector PDF format with 300 dpi output resolution. 

  • A proposed hotel brand name in Chinese and English must be shown in the same PDF format.

  • Both color and black/white versions must be included on the same page.

  • Text description of the logo design concept (no more than 300 words, either in Chinese or English)

  • If needed, mockup graphics can be also included in the same PDF file.

 

A JPEG file  

  • Logo of colour version must be included in the JPEG file.

  • If needed, other mockup graphics, samples and B/W versions can be also included in the same JPEG file.

  • All graphics must be shown on same page in the same JPEG file.

  • Do not included any text descriptions.

 

  • Entries of scanned or photographed hand-drawn works will not be accepted.

  • The attachment(s) should not exceed 30MB in total.

  • Please clearly indicate the information required below along in the email:

    • Name of participant (as stated on the identification document)

    • Phone Number

    • Occupation

    • Text description of the logo design concept (no more than 300 words, either in Chinese or English)

    • Self Declaration

      • To show your understanding of all terms and condition and the originality of design, please clearly indicate the following sentence in the email - “I certify that I have understood the terms and conditions and the design(s) is/are originated by me without plagiarism.”
         

  • No application fee is applied. However, all costs required for submissions will be borne by the participant.

  • The judging panel comprises the representatives of PolyU School of Hotel and Tourism Management, PolyU School of Design, hotel owners committee and professional designers.
